Who am I?
Born in Britain, I grew up wanting to be Superman – confident, charming and able to leap buildings in a single bound. In the end what I got was the wrong half of the character – dark hair, thick glasses and an overwhelming urge to be a journalist.
Still, so far it's a career that has served me well. I began with the formal stuff, earning a degree in journalism in the UK, before taking up a job in local newspapers.
With the basics under my belt, a friend invited me to London to become deputy editor on The Ford Magazine. Cars, bright lights, magazines, massive circulation... it was everything I'd ever wanted and I had the time of my life.
It was a foundation that put my career in magazines on an upward path, reaching a new peak when I was offered the chance to move to Asia and be managing editor of Malaysia Tatler – the high-end society magazine.
A desire to explore pastures fresh took me to The Expat Group, also in Kuala
Lumpur, where I took up the role of group editor – excited both by the
challenge of managing 27 magazines a year but also by the opportunity to
create and launch a travel magazine to be sold across Asia.
In the middle of all that, I squeezed in the time to meet and marry a beautiful
Australian girl, which is why I now live in Sydney. It's an exciting time
for me. I may not be Superman, but I certainly feel that I'm flying high.
